GE Exec Named Intuit President
Intuit Inc. named Stephen Bennett chief executive and president, capping a four-month search at the world’s largest maker of personal finance software. Bennett, 45, joins Intuit from General Electric Co., where he was an executive vice president and member of the office of the chief executive at finance unit GE Capital. Bennett will assume his duties immediately. Mountain View, Calif.-based Intuit said Bill Campbell, who had been acting chief executive since Bill Harris left in September, will remain chairman. Harris left Intuit to return to his entrepreneurial roots. At the time, Intuit said the company needed an executive with experience running large, complex companies, in light of Intuit’s strong growth in recent years. “We wanted someone with service industry knowledge, who had led large, complex organizations and with proven ability to produce fast growth,” Campbell said in a statement. “Steve is the ideal choice to take Intuit to the multibillion dollar level.” Shares of Intuit, maker of Quicken and TurboTax software, fell $8.06 to close at $67.56 on Nasdaq. The announcement of Bennett’s appointment came after the close of regular U.S. trading.
