Two men were seriously injured in separate weekend shootings, and authorities are struggling to find suspects in each incident.

Police in Ventura were called out to the first incident just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Authorities arrived at the home of Gregory U. Anderson, 16, along Tiara Street in Ventura and found the young man had been shot once in the back.

Anderson and two friends told authorities they were driving eastbound on Tiara Street near Jade Street when they saw a man walking along the north side of the street. They passed the man twice in their car before he fired several rounds at the car. Two shots struck the car, and a third hit Anderson in the back.

A residence across the street from the shooting was also struck by bullets, but no one inside was injured.

Anderson was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for surgery to remove a bullet lodged near his spine, police said.

Police do not think the shooting was gang-related.

The second shooting left one man with three bullet wounds to his head and upper body just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities said the victim, Eric Beltran, 27, of Camarillo, was leaving a party attended by 30 to 40 people in the 1200 block of Moorpark Road when a man confronted him, took out a gun and shot him three times, striking him in the head and torso.

Beltran was in guarded condition in the intensive care unit at Simi Valley Hospital after surgery, hospital officials said.

Authorities did not know whether Beltran knew his assailant, or if the crime was gang-related.

Sheriff’s deputies, canine units, and the department’s helicopter scoured the area of the shooting for a suspect, but found no one.

No arrests have been made in either shooting, authorities said.
