Food.com to Deliver Blockbuster Videos, Games
Blockbuster Inc., the world’s largest video-store chain, said it will offer home delivery of movies and video games through Food.com, which delivers restaurant takeout meals. Blockbuster, a unit of Viacom Inc. with more than 7,100 stores, said 90% of customers would like home delivery of a movie and a restaurant meal. Dallas-based Blockbuster was one of a group of investors that provided financing of $80 million to Food.com. Separately, Food.com said that it will use some of that money to buy Takeout Taxi Holdings Inc., the parent company of Takeout Taxi, the nation’s largest restaurant delivery service. Terms weren’t disclosed.
