Black Rock Protection Measure Protested
From Times Wire Reports
State’s rights activists staged a peaceful protest at the dedication of a national conservation area for the Black Rock Desert.
Under an action taken by Congress, nearly 1.2 million acres are being designated as a national conservation area and 10 accompanying wilderness areas.
The Nevada Committee for Full Statehood, which organized the protest, says the federal government has no jurisdiction over the area.
The federal government manages 87% of the land in Nevada.
