Re “MOCA’s Fame Game,” editorial, May 24: I don’t believe that the Andy Warhol retrospective is such a “daring test for MOCA,” as you say. On the contrary, Warhol’s work is relatively accessible, more so than the now-beloved Impressionists were in their day, and even more so than Van Gogh was in his.

No, indeed, Warhol is no Van Gogh, as you point out. The latter sold almost none of his work in his lifetime, and just about the only one who appreciated his talent was his brother. Warhol was a popular figure, a popular artist in his lifetime, and he made a few bucks as well. And if time is the arbiter of fame, he might just outlast Van Gogh and the Impressionists in the fame game.
