Tenet Taps 6 Doctors as Chief Medical Officers

In an effort to improve medical care and rehabilitate its battered image, Tenet Healthcare Corp. said that it had tapped six physicians to serve as regional chief medical officers.

The newly created positions are part of a quality care and patient safety initiative launched by Tenet nine months ago in the wake of allegations that doctors at its Redding, Calif., hospital performed hundreds of allegedly unnecessary heart surgeries.

The medical officers will travel to hospitals, working with local doctors, nurses and administrators to carry out measures aimed at promoting safety and care.
