EARNINGS
Cox Communications Inc. said it returned to a profit in the first quarter, helped by big gains in digital cable, Internet and telephone customers. The Atlanta-based cable company had net income of $57.7 million, or 9 cents a share, contrasted with a net loss of $29.2 million, or 5 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 13% to $1.54 billion.
