* If 2003 was the high-water mark for home sales, 2004 could turn out to be the high-water mark for the national Realtor population. The association’s membership is now 962,000 and is fast approaching 1 million.
* Applications for mortgages rose slightly for the holiday-shortened week that ended Jan. 2, just one week after touching their lowest level of 2003, the Mortgage Bankers Assn. reported.
