Fire the consultants for King/Drew
Re “Pact to Fix King/Drew Is Extended,” Oct. 26
I am disappointed in the decisions the L.A. County Board of Supervisors has made over the last year regarding King/Drew Medical Center. It’s definitely no secret that the medical center needed some cleaning up, but I think many would agree that Navigant Consulting has not done a satisfactory job.
I don’t understand the rationale of extending Navigant’s contract for six additional months when it is clear that the company did nothing but terminate and suspend hospital employees over the last year. Did it make any other significant accomplishments to improve the quality of care provided within the last year? And now that the hospital may be vulnerable due to the upcoming U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services survey, Navigant wants to cash in again.
Maybe L.A. County healthcare leaders need to roll up their own sleeves instead of depending on outside consultants to fix King/Drew’s problems.
