* Del Mar, Calif.-based home builder Brookfield Homes said orders plunged 39% in the fourth quarter because of a slowdown in sales in the San Diego and Washington markets, as well as a shortage of inventory available for sale.
* Auto supplier FederalMogul Corp., which filed for bankruptcy protection in 2001, said it was developing a three-year restructuring plan that might cut 4,500 jobs, or 10% of its workforce.
