Pfizer to slash sales force by 2,200 jobs, or 20%

Pfizer Inc. said it would cut its U.S. sales force by about 20%, or 2,200 jobs.
The world’s No. 1 drug maker said it would present its long-term outlook and additional actions for transforming the company in January.
Pfizer said in mid-October that it would review every aspect of its operations. Its cost-cutting efforts are aimed at producing annual savings of $4 billion a year by 2008, the New York-based company said.
