Richard Bell, a keyboardist and songwriter who played with Janis Joplin on her posthumously released album “Pearl,” and as a studio musician with the Band and many other rock ‘n’ roll acts, died of cancer Friday in a Toronto hospital, according to his longtime friend and fellow musician Colin Linden. He was 61.
