Victims of plane crash near airport identified
From Times staff and wire reports
The two men who died in a twin-engine plane crash near the Chino Airport were identified Wednesday as 66-year-old Robert Alan Lewis of Chino, the pilot, and 76-year-old Roland Henry Barthelemy of Orange.
Investigators were trying to determine why the Visalia-bound plane crashed into a field near a youth correctional facility west of the airport about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Lewis was using navigational instruments, according to Federal Aviation Administration officials, but did not communicate with air traffic controllers after takeoff.
