Read the CC&Rs; before buying
Regarding “Far From Retiring,” April 6:
My husband and I, experienced property buyers, fell into the tender trap of an over-55 development. Because we loved the house so much and still do, we neglected to read the CC&Rs; in depth.
We now find ourselves living in an over-controlled community, with unrealistic rules about everything.
If we didn’t stand to lose thousands of dollars -- if we were lucky enough to sell in this market -- we would be long gone from our lovely home.
So if you are not a childless, friendless, orphaned, single hermit, read the CC&Rs; better than we did.
