Kosher meat firm files Chapter 11

Kosher slaughterhouse Agriprocessors Inc. has filed for bankruptcy protection, blaming its financial difficulties on the May immigration raid on its Postville plant in which more than 300 people were arrested.
Word that the plant could further reduce production or close prompted fear of a kosher food crisis.
Agriprocessors is “actively seeking new sources of financing” and thinks it can restructure, the company said.
