Home medical tests: An Aug. 31 article in the Health section said the Home Access HIV-1 Test System (also known as the Home Access Express HIV-1 Test System) was the first home HIV test to receive Food and Drug Administration approval. The Confide HIV Testing Service received FDA approval first, on May 14, 1996. That test was later taken off the market by its manufacturer because of a lack of demand. The Home Access HIV-1 Test System received FDA approval on July 22, 1996.
