Stocks higher at the open on Wall Street
Stocks are opening higher on Wall Street.
Just after the opening bell, the Dow Jones industrial average is up 36 at 13,595. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index is up three at 1,460. And the Nasdaq composite index is up 10 at 3,171.
A report says national home prices increased 1.2 percent in July compared with the same month last year. Prices rose in July from June in all 20 cities tracked by the report. It’s the third straight month in which prices rose in every city.
Wall Street is waiting for a 10 a.m. report on consumer confidence.
Google stock touched an all-time high at the open — almost $757 a share.
