Mariah Carey to release new album July 23
Mariah Carey took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce the release date of her upcoming 13th studio album, which will be released July 23.
During her brief stint on “American Idol,” Carey launched her comeback single, “#Beautiful,” which is lifted from the as-yet-untitled disc.
The smoldering, Miguel-assisted single (the duo also produced the soul-pop record) has heated up Billboard’s R&B;/Hip-Hop chart, peaking at No. 4, making more of an impact than her forgettable, and tepidly received, 2012 single, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em).”

The album is the follow-up to 2009’s “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts. The following year Carey issued “Merry Christmas II You,” a sequel to her massive 1994 holiday album.
Last week Carey confirmed she was leaving “Idol” after one season, to shift her attention back to her music career. Despite a season full of controversy, Carey helped the aging Fox competition close a gap it had long struggled with by bringing the iconic vocalist in to critique aspiring talent.
The singer is currently prepping a world tour that will launch in Asia sometime in October.
