Talking TV: ‘Homeland’ finale; the rise of ‘Sleepy Hollow’ and more

Up and down, in and out, no other show has been so instantly lauded and rigorously criticized as Showtime’s terrorist thriller “Homeland,” which came to its third season close Sunday night.

Over the course of three years and countless plot twists, CIA operative Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and former POW turned terrorist turned operative Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) became the modern-day Romeo and Juliet, star-crossed lovers beset by forces outside their control, often seeming at cross-purposes.

People loved it, then they hated it, then they loved it again. But like its lead characters, “Homeland” ignored the naysayers, stuck to its guns and moved ever forward.

We wouldn’t dare spoil the finale here, but join Mary McNamara, Yvonne Villarreal and Stacey Leasca at noon Monday to discuss the highs, lows and implications of Sunday night’s episode.

And if that’s not enough, they’ll also take on this season’s newest hit, Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” which has its own odd-couple pairing -- this time a man and woman separated by a couple of hundred years and a phalanx of demons. A supernatural “Homeland”?
