Handsome Coffee’s brewing workshops
Michael Phillips, co-founder of Handsome Coffee Roasters (and a World Barista Champion) will conduct three brew classes on Tuesdays in December, starting tonight, at Handsome Coffee’s downtown cafe.
Each class will cover how to make a great cup of coffee with a different style of brewer, starting with the Chemex and V60 class today from 6 to 7 p.m. For $65, each student receives a Chemex brewer, filters and a 12-ounce bag of coffee. Phillips will demo how to brew an amazing cup using the Chemex and V60 pour-over brew methods. “Learn historical tidbits, best brew ratios and basic technique.”
On Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 7 p.m., Phillips discusses the Aeropress and the traveling brew. The cost is $45 and includes an Aeropress brewer and 12-ounce bag of coffee. The class covers brewing with the portable Aeropress brewer and mini Porlex hand grinder. “For any road warrior who will not settle when it comes to their daily cup.”
And on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m., learn about the French, Clever and the fine art of steeping. You get a Clever brewer, filters and a 12-ounce bag of coffee for $45. Steeping brew methods using the French press and Clever a “Discover how to make a French press cleaner than spring sheets and a Clever richer than Scrooge McDuck.”
