Hey, Snapchatters, a new dining survey says it’s OK to use your cellphone at dinner
How do you feel about cellphones in restaurants? Getting tired of seeing Sriracha on everything? Google and Zagat have teamed up to study the state of American dining, focusing on trends in cities across the nation, including Los Angeles. And the study has turned up some pretty interesting results.
It should come as no surprise that Angelenos like to go out to eat. According to the study, which analyzed answers from almost 10,000 people across the country, participants estimated they eat out around six times a week.
And a majority of the respondents will travel for food. The study found 83% have planned or would plan a getaway just to eat at a specific restaurant.
When it comes to cellphones, 54% of Angelenos surveyed have no problem with pulling out a phone at dinner, so long as the phone is used in moderation (and, we suppose, you’re not ignoring your dinner date).
As for favorite dining complaints, the No. 1 gripe is about service (30%), followed by restaurant noise (27%), crowds (11%) and prices (9%).
And in a town where 80% of the survey participants consider themselves “foodies,” almost one-third (29%) are “over” Sriracha (though 27% still “love it”) and only 14% “love” bone broth.
Oh, and more than one-third of the participants (38%) said they are tired of Mason jar drinks. Cheers to that.
