Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Berkeley

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Sunday evening two miles from Berkeley, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9:26 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was two miles from Orinda, three miles from Albany, four miles from Piedmont and 61 miles from Sacramento.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
