3.6-magnitude earthquake rattles Bay Area
A magnitude 3.6 earthquake was reported Sunday afternoon one mile from Concord, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:13 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 8.7 miles.
According to the USGS, the quake was felt across a large swath of the East Bay and North Bay.
The USGS initially reported the earthquake as magnitude 4.0 but later downgraded it.
In addition to the 3.6 temblor, three other smaller quakes were reported in the Concord area on Sunday.
In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
