Good Samaritan shot and killed while chasing a purse snatcher, police say
A Good Samaritan was shot and killed south of downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning when he chased after one of two suspects who had snatched a woman’s purse, police said.
The shooting occurred about 3:25 a.m. in an industrial area near 14th Street and Long Beach Avenue, Jenny Houser, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The shooting victim was transferred to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Houser said. His identity was withheld pending family notification.

There were no more details immediately available about the incident that prompted the shooting.
“The case is ongoing,” Houser said, “and our investigators are trying to identify the two suspects.”
