Child dies, another in critical condition after being struck by car
An 11-year-old boy died and his 8-year-old sister was critically injured after they were struck by a vehicle in Santa Ana, police officials said Wednesday night.
The boy was pronounced dead at UC Irvine Medical Center, said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.
The girl had no pulse and was not breathing when firefighters arrived at the scene around 9 p.m near Bristol Street and Civic Center Drive, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
“We performed CPR and transported her,” Division Chief Kris Concepcion told The Times.
Bertagna said the girl was being treated at UC Irvine Medical Center.
Concepcion said the driver was at the scene when rescuers arrived. No other details were immediately available.
