Fatal accident closes southbound 710 Freeway in South Gate
All southbound lanes of the 710 Freeway have been closed at Imperial Highway following a fatal accident, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
Officials responded to the scene around 8 p.m. and issued a SigAlert about half an hour later. CHP Officer Monica Posada said one lane probably would be opened by about 9:30 p.m.
Posada said officers were there and coroner’s officials were on the way, but she could not immediately provide additional details about the accident.
Traffic was being taken off the freeway at the Firestone Boulevard exit, she said.
