Woman, 98, in Jaguar kills man on scooter, police say
A 98-year-old woman driving a Jaguar in Costa Mesa collided with a man on a scooter in an accident that left the man dead, police said Wednesday night.
Witnesses told investigators that the red 2003 Jaguar turned left in front of 35-year-old man who had a green light, Sgt. Joyce La Pointe of the Costa Mesa Police Department said.
La Pointe told The Times that the woman was released pending an investigation of the accident, which was reported about 2:30 p.m Wednesday near Superior Avenue and Industrial Way.
The man was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. He was pronounced dead about 3:30 p.m.
