Man allegedly douses home with gasoline, locks girlfriend inside
A Banning man has been arrested on suspicion of dousing a home with gasoline and locking his girlfriend inside so that he could torch the place, authorities said Tuesday.
Amador Bates, 37, allegedly soaked the floors of the home with gasoline and was seen running from the scene Sunday night in the 900 block of Cottonwood Road when officers arrived, according to the Banning Police Department.
The girlfriend was locked inside and unable to get out. Officers said they forced open the door to rescue her.
“Officers discovered a flammable liquid had been poured on the floors throughout the home,” police said in a statement.
Bates was being held Tuesday at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of attempted arson.
