Three men arrested in beating death of homeless man
Three men have been arrested in connection with the death of a homeless Santa Barbara County man who died nearly a month after being found severely beaten.
Carlos Medina, 44, Roman Romero, 18, and Jonathon Andrade, 20, each face murder and conspiracy charges in the death of 51-year-old Richard Alden Boden. All three suspects were booked into the Santa Barbara County jail in lieu of $1-million bond.
Deputies found Boden unconscious in “Granny’s Field,” an open area located west of San Simeon Drive and San Angelo Avenue, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
Boden never regained consciousness after he was taken to a hospital for treatment. His family took him off life support Oct. 14 and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
An autopsy revealed Boden died from injury complications tied to the beating, according to authorities.
