Body found near Temescal Canyon in Pacific Palisades

Los Angeles police Friday afternoon found the body of a homeless man in Pacific Palisades, west of Temescal Canyon.

The unidentified man, who had set up an encampment in the wooded area, died of natural causes.

Officer John “Rusty” Redican, who was called to the scene, said that while it was originally thought that the body had been burned, given its decomposition and the heat, the coroner determined there had been no foul play.

The body had simply been decomposed for some time and some animals had gotten to it, he said.

Neighbors had called the police after noticing a weird smell in the area.
