A neighbor who was parking his vehicle saw the boy in the driveway and called 911.
Detectives do not know whether the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle.
Peebles was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:08 p.m.
LaBarbera said that the child was not a gang member and had recently moved to the area.
“It’s residential, it’s normally quiet,” he said.
