Car-chase suspect tries to shake police at McDonald’s drive-thru

The driver of a Ford minivan being chased by police Wednesday morning at one point tried to shake the pursuing cops at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Panorama City, but to no avail.

The pursuit ended about 9 a.m., roughly 10 minutes after it started at Woodman Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard. Aerial television news footage showed the silver Windstar crossing into oncoming traffic, blowing through intersections and whizzing by school zones.

Eventually, an LAPD squad car was able to carry out a “pit maneuver” by bumping the van’s back end, causing the driver to lose control and crash up onto a curb on Van Nuys Boulevard near Parthenia and Nordhoff streets, CBS Los Angeles reported.

The male driver and an unidentified passenger tried unsuccessfully to flee on foot before they were arrested in the street.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the pursuit.

There were also no immediate reports of injuries as a result of the chase.
