Chris Brown named in suit about alleged altercation over parking spot

Celebrity egos and a parking space dispute are at the heart of the latest star-studded lawsuit to hit Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Sha’Keir M. Duarte filed a suit Tuesday against singer Chris Brown and an associate for alleged battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and conspiracy to commit battery.

Duarte, according to a copy of the complaint provided by his attorney, was heading to a recording session in January with artist Frank Ocean at the Westlake Recording Studios in West Hollywood, where they found “a Lamborghini was parked in the space for Frank Ocean.”

Uh-oh.

Duarte and Ocean parked in another stall, according to the complaint, and then went into the studio to find out who had parked in Ocean’s spot.

After a few minutes, Brown emerged with the associate — identified in court papers only as “Hood” — and two other people. Ocean allegedly asked Brown about the parking spot, according to the complaint, and Duarte was standing next to Ocean.

“Thereafter Defendant ‘Hood’, Chris Brown and the two other individuals moved forward in a menacing manner,” according to the complaint. “Suddenly, and without any provocation, Defendant Hood stated ‘Is there a problem, Cuz,’ and then lunged and struck plaintiff with a punch to his face.”

In the complaint, Duarte alleges that Brown urged his associates on and that Duarte “was knocked to the ground by Defendant ‘Hood,’ who commenced to beat and kick him about the head as he lay on the ground.”

Verbal threats followed, Duarte alleges.

A comment from a representative for Chris Brown was not immediately available.
