A two-car collision and subsequent fire on the 10 Freeway Thursday morning caused all eastbound lanes to be closed while crews doused the flames.

The incident occurred at about 9:22 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway at City Terrace Drive, said California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.

Two cars collided and one of them caught fire, Villalobos said. At least one person was taken to a hospital with burn injuries.

“We did have to block off all the eastbound lanes while the fire department put out the fire,” he said.

Two of the lanes were opened about an hour later, but the four other eastbound lanes remained closed, he said.

Villalobos said the incident “is causing major delays as you hit the downtown area” and that traffic is backed up on the eastbound 10 Freeway, the southbound 101 Freeway and in both directions on the 5 Freeway near downtown.
