Man held in sale of fake Vicente Fernandez tickets
A man suspected of selling fake concert tickets on Facebook for Mexican ranchera singer Vicente Fernandez has been arrested, authorities said Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old man is accused of altering PDF files of Ticketmaster tickets and selling them to a number of victims on Facebook and Craigslist, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspect, Ricardo Gonzalez, allegedly provided investigators with a “full confession and the names of additional victims,” department officials said in a statement.
“Each sale consisted of groups of tickets and resulted in significant monetary loss,” officials said.
Gonzalez was being held in the jail at the Pico Rivera sheriff’s station in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Known to his fans as “Chente,” Fernandez is considered one of the greats of ranchera music, a genre that originated on ranches and in areas of rural Mexico.
