Internal review expected in ‘missing’ ICE agent case
Federal officials are expected to conduct an internal review of why a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was thought to be missing Wednesday for several hours.
The agent, whose name was not released, was thought to have gone missing early Wednesday. He was confirmed to be safe late Wednesday night, according to a joint statement from ICE and the Los Angeles Police Department.
Authorities searched earlier Wednesday for the agent, concentrating their efforts in part around the area of Silver Lake Boulevard and the 101 Freeway.
Later in the evening, officials came to believe he had experienced car trouble Tuesday night and a coworker may have picked him up. No foul play was suspected.
The agent was reached in person by authorities about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The LAPD missing persons case has been closed.
