Police seek man who tried to kidnap girl, put her in trunk of car
Authorities were searching Friday for a man who attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old girl off a street in Wilmington.
The suspect began following the girl Wednesday near Avalon Boulevard and L Street. When she reached the 1100 block of Marine Avenue, he surprised her from behind and tried to force her into the trunk of his car, according to the Los Angeles police.
The girl fought back and broke free and the man then fled the area.
He is described as about 50 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds, with black and gray hair. Police said he may be driving a late 1980s to early 1990s two-door white imported car, with black bumpers, a faded hood and possible damage to the passenger side fender.
Authorities asked anyone with information to contact Los Angeles Police Department Harbor Area detectives at (310) 726-7860 or (877) 527-3247.
