Man found dead outside former Costa Mesa rehab home

A man was found dead outside a vacant house in Costa Mesa that used to be the site of a rehab facility.

The death, which was discovered in the 500 block of Hamilton Street at about 11 a.m. Monday, is being investigated as a possible homicide, Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott told the Daily Pilot.

“His body was just to the rear of the property,” he said.

Police wouldn’t release the man’s identity or why he was at the house.

The house had a “Debbie’s House” sign by the front door.

Police blocked Hamilton Street from Charle Street to Maple Avenue during their investigation.

Marina Renka and her husband own Rudy’s Garage, a nearby business, and said the neighborhood is generally a quiet one.

“If anything happens here, it happens at night,” she said.
