Motorist arrested in fatal accident in Palmdale area
A 19-year-old man was driving recklessly Saturday when his car swerved across a road in the Palmdale area and hit three motorcycles, killing one person and badly injuring three others, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The dead man was a 58-year-old Oxnard resident whose name was not released, officers said. Hospitalized with major injuries were Danny Rincon, 41, of Westlake Village, and Moorpark residents Richard McBee, 60, and Patty McBee, 55, according to the CHP.
The driver of the car, Jose Gutierrez, of Palmdale, was arrested and jailed on unspecified charges, officers said. His 2001 Infiniti struck the motorcycles after it veered into oncoming traffic.
The incident occurred at 3:10 p.m. on Elizabeth Lake Road, near Godde Hill Road.
