A police officer shot and wounded a man Friday after he brandished a gun during a foot pursuit in Pasadena, authorities said.

Two patrol officers tried to make contact with a pedestrian about 10 a.m. when he ran into a housing complex near West Hammond Street and Sunset Avenue, Pasadena Police Lt. Tracey Ibarra said.

As officers chased the man, identified as Paris Holloway, 23, of Pasadena, he pulled out a handgun, Ibarra said. One of the pursuing officers opened fire, hitting him several times, she said.
