Pizza deliveryman robbed of cash, two pizzas in Whittier
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly robbing a pizza deliveryman at gunpoint in the unincorporated part of Whittier.
The alleged crimed occurred around 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the 8400 block of Bradwell Avenue, according to the sheriff’s department.
Responding deputies were approached by a pizza deliveryman who told them a man armed with a gun had robbed him of two pizzas and the money he was carrying.
Deputies encountered a person matching the description of the robber at a convenience store at Pioneer Boulevard and Slauson Avenue, not far from where the alleged crime occurred.
The man was in possession of the stolen pizzas and money and was carrying a black replica firearm, according to the sheriff’s department.
Authorities identified the suspect as Jesus Reynaldo Rivas of Pico Rivera. He was booked on suspicion of robbery and remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Investigators are also trying to determine whether Rivas may be responsible for three other robberies that occurred in the vicinity.
