Rapper 50 Cent ordered to stay away from ex-girlfriend, guns

Rapper 50 Cent entered a not-guilty plea Monday to charges involving the mother of one of his children and was ordered by a judge to stay away from the victim and not possess any firearms

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was ordered to stay away from Daphne Narvaez, not threaten her or interfere with any witnesses.

He must turn over to authorities any guns he possesses or sell them to a federally licensed firearms dealer.

He is facing five criminal counts, including one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism in connection with an alleged assault at his former girlfriend’s Toluca Lake condo.

Judge Bernard Kamins said Jackson must appear at his next court date Sept. 4 on the misdemeanor domestic violence case.

Los Angeles Police Lt. Alan Hamilton said officers responded to a 911 call from the complex June 23 and found considerable damage to the upscale apartment and evidence of domestic violence.

“We did a thorough and comprehensive investigation and turned it over to the district attorney, who in turn gave it to the city attorney,” Hamilton said. “Mr. Jackson fled as officers arrived.”

The Los Angeles city attorney’s office charged the rapper. If convicted on all counts, Jackson could face up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines for allegedly injuring the woman and destroying $7,100 in property during the altercation.

“Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office,” City Atty. Mike Feuer said after filing charges. “We will continue to look out for the safety of all victims of domestic violence and seek justice for the alleged crimes.”

Narvaez previously had been in a three-year relationship with Jackson and they have a child together, according to prosecutors.

Responding officers observed broken chandeliers and broken furniture throughout her condo, authorities said. Officers also reportedly saw a ransacked bedroom closet with clothes scattered over the floor, as well as a broken television and lamp.
