House painter convicted of shooting San Diego TV sportscaster
Reporting from San Diego — A house painter was convicted of attempted murder Wednesday in the near-fatal shooting of San Diego television sports anchor Kyle Kraska.
Mike Montana shot Kraska, CBS News 8’s sports director, six times in the driveway of Kraska’s Scripps Ranch home Feb. 10.
Kraska had hired Montana, 54, for a painting job, but the work was left unfinished. Montana demanded money, claiming he was owed $2,200, and then ambushed Kraska.
Montana was also convicted of two counts of making criminal threats against other people unrelated to the Kraska shooting.
