Former Hemet school official pleads guilty to sex with students

A former assistant high school principal in Hemet has pleaded guilty to having sex with three teenage boys who were students, authorities said.

Erin Henton, 45, who worked at Tahquitz High School, was sentenced to a year in jail and three years probation after pleading guilty Monday to three counts of statutory rape. The boys ranged in age from 16 to 17.

She was also ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous and Sex Addicts Anonymous, to register as a sex offender while she is on probation and to not take any job involving the supervision of minors, said John Hall, a spokesman for the Riverside County district attorney’s office.

Henton was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday but instead reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

Henton, who has been jailed since April, will be credited with time served, Hall said. Prosecutors dropped several other charges as part of the agreement.

Police began investigating Henton in March after the parents of one of the three boys discovered they were having a sexual relationship.

Henton was accused of having sexual relations with the boys over a period of several months, but none of the acts occurred on campus, investigators said.

Police found naked photos and videos on cellphones belonging to Henton and the boys.

The families of two of the victims approved of the plea deal and the third family could not be reached, Hall said.
