Yum Yum Donuts robber who stabbed worker with screwdriver is sought
Torrance police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a Yum Yum Donuts and repeatedly stabbed the worker behind the counter in broad daylight.
The attacker was described as a 6-foot-tall black man between 30 and 40 years old with a thin build who was wearing an orange, short-sleeved button-up shirt, khaki pants, a dark blue baseball cap and white tennis shoes.
The man walked into the doughnut shop in the 17200 block of Prairie Avenue during the afternoon on Nov. 27 and placed an order. When the female worker approached the register, the man pulled out a screwdriver, then reached over the counter and grabbed the woman by the collar and began stabbing her, according to footage from the store’s security video camera.
The woman opened the register as the man continued to stab her, NBC4 reported. He eventually led the woman to the back of the store to try to open the safe. The safe didn’t open and the man stabbed the woman several more times before leaving.
The worker was rushed to a local hospital where she was stabilized.
