Where can I see Fourth of July fireworks in L.A.?

Looking to celebrate the Fourth with a bang?

Here are some of the places hosting celebrations and professional fireworks shows:

• Cudahy: Cudahy Park, 5220 Santa Ana St., fireworks at 9 p.m.
• La Mirada: La Mirada Regional Park, Alicante Road & Adelfa Drive, 4-9:30 p.m. Event is free with live music, food and fireworks.
• Cerritos: Let Freedom Ring Celebration, 18125 Bloomfield Ave. Free event begins at 4 p.m., fireworks at 9 p.m.
• Claremont: Fireworks Spectacular at Pomona College, Strehle Track, 333 North College Way. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., concert begins at 6:45, fireworks begin at 9. Tickets are $8 pre-sale, $10 at the gate.
• Commerce: Rosewood Park at youth center parking lot, 2535 Commerce Way, at 9 p.m.
• Gardena: Rowley Park baseball field, 13220 S. Van Ness Ave., at 9 p.m.
• Huntington Park: Salt Lake Park, 3401 E. Florence Ave., Event is from 1-10 p.m.; fireworks begin at 9.
• Irwindale: Irwindale Park, 4th of July Fiesta and Fireworks Spectacular, Fiesta begins at noon, fireworks at 9 p.m.
• Pomona: Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Monster trucks, motocross and fireworks. Gates open at 5 p.m., show starts at 8, fireworks at 9:20. Admission: prices from $15 to $49, children 2 and under are free.
• Rosemead: Rosemead Park, 4343 Encinita Ave., Rosemead 4th of July Parade, 5K begins at 8 a.m., fireworks at 9 p.m. Carnival wristbands: $12.
• Santa Clarita: Westfield Town Center Mall, 24201 West Valencia Blvd. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
• South El Monte: South El Monte High School, New Temple Park, 1450 Lidcombe Ave. Water slides, live boxing, basketball contests and more. Event is from 12 to 9 p.m.
• South Gate: South Gate Park, 9615 Pinehurst Ave. Carnival begins at 5 p.m. at Tweedy Boulevard and Hildreth Avenue and runs through the weekend. Fireworks at 9.
• La Puente: La Puente Park, 501 N. Glendora Ave. Free celebration begins at 5 p.m., fireworks at 9.
• Norwalk: Norwalk Public Library, 12350 Imperial Hwy, Fireworks at 9 p.m.

July 4

• Artesia: Artesia Park, 12000 Block of South Street, fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
• Calabasas: Calabasas High School, 2855 W. Mulholland Hwy. Gates open at 5 p.m., fireworks at 9. Tickets are $10, children under 2 free. Celebration includes live music, rides, crafts and games.
• Castaic: Castaic Lake Lower Lagoon, Independence Day celebration and fireworks, 32132 Castaic Lake Drive.
• Crescenta Valley: La Crescenta Elementary School. Gates open at 4 p.m., show begins at 9.
• Downtown Los Angeles: Grand Park, 200 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles; block party with live music and food trucks begins at 2:10 p.m.; ground based pyrotechnics and light show spectacle begins after dark.
• La Habra: La Habra High School Stadium, 801 W. Highlander Ave., gates open at 5 p.m. Adults: $5 presale, $7 at gate. Children (3-12) $3 presale, $4 at gate.
• Long Beach: Queen Mary, 1126 Queens Highway, celebration onboard noon to 11 p.m., adult general admission $39.99. Fireworks at 9 p.m.
• Los Angeles: Exposition Park, 700 Exposition Park Drive, 4^th of July Extravaganza. Festivities are noon to 11:55 p.m., fireworks at 9 p.m.
• Lynwood: Lynwood City Park baseball fields, Bullis Road and Century Boulevard. Free festivities are from 3 to 9 p.m.
• Marina del Rey: Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, and Fisherman’s Village, 13755 Fiji Way; fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
• Pasadena: Rose Bowl, 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, festivities begin at 2 p.m., live motorcycle stunts at 7 p.m., fireworks at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $13, children under 7 are free.
• Pico Rivera: El Rancho High School, 6501 S. Passons Blvd., gates open at 6 p.m., live entertainment begins at 7, fireworks at 9.
• Stevenson Ranch: Dr. Richard Rioux Memorial Park, 26233 W. Faulkner Drive; festivities begin at 6 p.m., fireworks at 9.
• Walnut: Suzanne Park, 625 Suzanne Road. Festivities begins at 6 p.m. with face painting, games, and a pie-eating contest; fireworks start at 9.

July 5

• Avalon: Two Harbors Enterprises, Isthmus Cove barge, fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

July 6

• Irwindale: Irwindale Speedway, 13300 Live Oak Ave., adults $10, children $5, gates open at 5 p.m., fireworks at 9.

July 7

• Agoura Hills: Agoura High School, fireworks at 9 p.m.

Firework stands are also open for business -- in limited, approved areas in the state.

Fireworks certified as “safe and sane” by the California state fire marshal and designated by an official seal will be sold by licensed vendors until noon on July 6, unless otherwise designated by local authorities.

Officials stressed responsible use of fireworks, especially because extreme heat and dry conditions are already conducive to wildfires.

Daniel Berlant, spokesman for Cal Fire, urged residents who choose to light their own fireworks do so away from grass, brush or any other flammable materials.

“Even ‘safe and sane’ fireworks need to be used safely,” he said.

The Los Angeles city and county fire departments recommend Southern Californians attend public fireworks shows, rather than light their own and risk injuries like blindness and burns.

A list of 295 communities in the state that allow the sale and use of approved “safe and sane” fireworks this year has been published online by “The California Fireworks Newswire.”

According to the website, sparks can fly in the following Los Angeles County communities:

Alhambra, Artesia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Bell, Bell Gardens, Bellflower, Carson, Commerce, Compton, Cudahy, Downey, Duarte, El Monte, Gardena, Hawaiian Gardens, Hawthorne, Huntington Park, Industry, Inglewood, Irwindale, La Mirada, La Puente, Lakewood, Lawndale, Lynwood, Maywood, Montebello, Monterey Park, Norwalk, Palmdale, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Rosemead, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte, South Gate, Temple City and Vernon.
