Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Shandon
A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Friday morning 15 miles from Shandon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:06 a.m. PDT at a depth of 3.1 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 17 miles from Coalinga, 18 miles from Avenal, 22 miles from Paso Robles and 194 miles from Sacramento.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
