Lakers dip at home in secondary market, are 2nd most popular on road
Despite a season decimated by injury, the Lakers are still a big draw in the secondary ticket market.
According to online marketplace StubHub, the Lakers are second to the Miami Heat in ticket sales when playing on the road.
The Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls and the Clippers round out the top five in ticket sales as the away team on StubHub.
As the home team, the Lakers are fifth in the NBA on StubHub, behind the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Heat and Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers were also fifth last year in home sales, although so far this season, they’ve seen a dip on StubHub. The Lakers have played 22 home games (53.7% of the 41 scheduled) but have sold only 47% of last season’s total.
It’s been a difficult year for the Lakers (18-33) with All-Star guard Kobe Bryant having played in just six game. The team has dropped to 13th in the Western Conference.
The Lakers play host to the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night, although they will be without five of their top six scorers -- Pau Gasol, Nick Young, Jodie Meeks, Xavier Henry and Bryant.
