When are the Lakers losing games?
The Lakers have a 4-6 record under Coach Mike D’Antoni, losing 15 of 40 quarters (37.5%).
In comparison, the team went 1-4 under Mike Brown, losing 11 of 20 quarters (55%). In the six-game Bernie Bickerstaff interim period, the Lakers lost just four of 24 quarters (16.7%), but three were in the same game (San Antonio Spurs).
In the five Bickerstaff victories, the Lakers lost just a single quarter.
The team has won 70% of their first quarters (7-3) under D’Antoni, suggesting the issue may go beyond questions in the starting lineup.
Second quarters have been more troublesome, with the Lakers giving way in five of the last 10 games. Integrating a spotty bench into the rotation may have something to do with the results.
With D’Antoni, the Lakers have won five third quarters, lost four and tied one.
More often than not, the Lakers have strong fourth quarters for D’Antoni (7-3) but when they don’t, they go down hard. The Lakers were outscored by 12.7 points a game in three poor showings.
