Lakers’ Week 19 in review

The Lakers finished a busy, perplexing Week 19 with a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The week started with a win, a rare one in Portland over the Trail Blazers, 107-106.

The following night, the Lakers fell at home to the New Orleans Pelicans, 132-125.

After the loss, Coach Mike D’Antoni said he was considering a lineup change at point guard, but stuck with Kendall Marshall over Jordan Farmar when the Lakers hosted the Clippers on Thursday.

The only real highlight against the Clippers was the bright blue suit worn by Nick Young. The Lakers suffered their largest margin of defeat in franchise history, falling to the Clippers by 48 points.

Obviously General Manager Mitch Kupchak was not pleased, although the Lakers did continue to make progress toward a lottery pick.

The Lakers didn’t fare well on Friday night, getting a season sweep by the Denver Nuggets with a 134-126 loss.

The week ended with Jodie Meeks scoring a career-high 42 points in a 114-110 over the Thunder.

With retirement looking imminent, Derek Fisher likely played his final game against Lakers at Staples Center.

Kobe Bryant, who is a long shot to return this season, unveiled his latest signature shoe and a “Kobe” piano.

Finally, former Lakers coach Phil Jackson reportedly has an offer to join the New York Knicks front office. Jackson said in an interview that he believes it was the late Jerry Buss who made the decision to hire D’Antoni.
